Grandma Mary’s Sugar Cookie Recipe

Michelle Roberts-Freeman has her grandma’s sugar cookie recipe framed in her kitchen. It’s a nod to time spent at Grandma’s house and a sweet way to keep both the memories and the cookies coming.

Ingredients

  • 1-Egg 2/3 Cup butter or margarine softened
  • 3/4 Cup Flour 1- teaspoon baking powder
  • 1- teaspoon salt
  • 1- teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°
  2. Blend all ingredients in large mixing bowl on low speed until beaters gather dough together, about 2 minutes.
  3. Form dough into ball with hands; or drop with teaspoon on cookie sheet.
  4. Can add coconut or nuts if you would like to above. I divide dough put nuts in part and coconut in rest.
  5. Can sprinkle colored sugar on each cookie
  6. Grease cookie sheet

Michelle says, “Grandma Mary didn’t write down how long to cook them, but 8-10 minutes in my oven, and they turn out great. She made perfect size little cookies. I make delicious bigger ones.”
