Loaded Caramel Apples
This is a fun, easy-to-share treat for a ballgame gathering or any fall day when you’re craving something sweet and crunchy.
Ingredients
- 4 large, crisp apples, such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith
- 1 cup caramel sauce, warmed
- ½ cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips, melted
- ½ cup chopped pecans or peanuts
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
- ¼ cup toffee bits
- Flaky sea salt, optional
Directions
- Slice the apples: Core the apples and cut them into thin wedges. Arrange the slices on a large platter or serving board.
- Add the caramel: Warm the caramel sauce until it is easy to drizzle. Drizzle generously over the apple slices.
- Add the chocolate: Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Drizzle over the apples and caramel.
- Load them up: Sprinkle with chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips and toffee bits. Finish with a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt, if desired.
- Serve: Enjoy right away, or refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to let the chocolate set slightly.
Tip: To keep the apple slices from browning if you’re making these ahead, toss them lightly with lemon juice before assembling.
